專業顯示器市調機構DisplaySearch 預估，今年5吋全高清（FHD）智慧手機面板出貨量超過 1億片，占全部智慧手機面板的5%。

DisplaySearch指出，隨著5吋全高清智慧手機面板需求增加，面板廠開始採用新技術降低功耗，並提高解析度。

生產5吋全高清智慧手機面板的主動矩陣薄膜電晶體（TFT）背板的技術有傳統的非晶矽（a-Si）TFT、金屬氧化物（Oxide）TFT和低溫多晶矽（LTPS）TFT，都可用於液晶顯示面板（LCD）製造；低溫多晶矽也可用於主動有機發光二極體（AMOLED）顯示器的顯示背板。

DisplaySearch表示，雖然iPhone供應商關注低溫多晶矽（LTPS）液晶顯示器，但其他具有相關經驗的廠商已開始利用金屬氧化物（Oxide） 技術，並已取得競爭力優勢。

非晶矽、低溫多晶矽、主動有機發光二極體，每種技術都有優缺點，由面板製造商選擇最適合自己的技術。

DisplaySearch分析，雖然非晶矽技術的性能比金屬氧化物，或低溫多晶矽為低，卻是目前絕大多數智慧手機液晶顯示幕採用技術，主因技術相對成熟且成本低。
